Bienvenido a casa. Premio Solvia a la innovación en el diseño de la vivienda.
The project develops a model of flexible housing.
It starts with a square unit. Its repetition and expansion generates a framework, a flexible draughtboard. This system allows adaptation to each urban context, also generates different typologies of housing.
The resulting building adapts to their environment and incorporates sustainable systems to generate and capture energy. The ground floor has several communities’ spaces (interior and exterior) for developing common activities (laundry, meeting or assembly spaces…). The roof is a space to enjoy, meeting with friends or neighbours. It contains vegetable gardens and sun protected spaces with pergolas.
The unit is composed of a prefabricated structural ring. This structure draws in plan a smaller-scale draughtboard. This generates three types of spaces:
1. The corners, where are concentrated the services, facilities, balconies… (“Pillar space”).
2. The perimeter space between the corners. It is a flexible space in height. It allows to have two spaces, the main space and the storage space (“double space”).
3. The centre of the square. It is the main space of the house, the relation space, “the + space” that can join other spaces of the house to the needs of the user, the moment, etc. It is possible by a system of sliding doors.
The combination of these spaces is as varied as people can live there. It is possible to change it over the life.
This unit can join with another unit to create a double house, in horizontal and in vertical (duplex).
The sliding system is also used in the façade like a sun protection.
